Ms. Lucia Pierry Vargas paid a courtesy call on Ambassador Abdullah Faiz Zain at his office last Friday 18 May 2007. Ms. Lucia Pierre Vargas will be attending the course on Multilateral Diplomacy to be conducted by Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR) from 22 May - 11 June 2007 under the MTCP.
Ms. Vargas, a lawyer by profession, is currently attached to the State Defense Council of Chile, a public body that represents and defends the state of Chile in the courts. Her speciality is labour and environmental law. She has a master degree in Law from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Valparaiso.
This is her first visit to Malaysia and she is looking forward to it.
Todate, 7 Chileans have been selected this year to attend various courses in Malaysia. The successful candidates included Mr. Jose Luis Toro, Developing Classroom Skills, IBRA (26 March - 13 April); Mr. Jorge Vidal, Crisis Management Course for International Participants, IDFR (8-29 May 2007); Mr. Sebastian Mocarquer, Road and Traffic Accident, Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (Bomba) (18-29 June); and Mr. Gonzalo Bordagaray, Brackishwater Aquaculture Management Course, Department of Fisheries, (4 June - 18 July 2007).
Ms. Daniela Ramirez Azua has also been selected by the Malaysian government for post graduate study in one of the universities in Malaysia.
Last year only six Chileans attended various courses under the MTCP.
