First Latin American Festival in Kuala Lumpur on March 25

KUALA LUMPUR, March 15 (Bernama) -- The Latin American festival, which will feature among others music, food, dances and handicraft originated from South American countries, will be held here for the first time on March 25.

The eight Latin American embassies in Malaysia comprising Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela will host the first grand annual of the fiesta.

Cuban Ambassador to Malaysia, Pedro Monzon Barata said the one-day festival would be a great opportunity for the whole Latin American community living in Malaysia to get together by celebrating their country's culture.

"Latin America, a continent with a very ancient history, possesses one of the most dynamic, varied and colourful cultures in the world.

"This fusion is a consequence of the integration among natives from America, Africa, Europe and Asia," he told reporters, Thursday.

Proceeds generated from this event will go towards charity programmes sponsored by the Latin American Ladies Association in Malaysia.

"This entity has continuously contributed with funding to support various orphanages and similar institutions in Malaysia," said Barata.
