Hi-Tea for Malaysians in Chile (Saturday, 18 February 2012)

The Ambassador, H.E Ganeson Sivagurunathan hosted a Malaysian gathering for all Malaysian families residing in Chile at the official residence, Rumah Malaysia on Saturday, 18 February 2012.

The event, which was an outdoor hi-tea party, was held to commemorate the New Year as well as to mark the many festivities which were celebrated in Malaysia in the last few weeks, namely Chinese New Year, Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday and Thaipusam.

The Ambassador, in his remarks, welcomed the Malaysians and their families and stressed the importance of registering with the Embassy. The Ambassador also briefed the guests of the developments in Malaysia. The guests were also encouraged to participate in future activities organised by the Embassy to enhance the comradeship among Malaysians.

On Malaysia – Chile bilateral relations, the Ambassador highlighted the coming into force of the Malaysia-Chile FTA which would further strengthen bilateral trade and economic linkages between the two countries.

The hi-tea programme also included some family games as well as karaoke. The guests were also treated to a 1Malaysia Buffet which included amongst others, Nasi Lemak, Fried Mee Hoon, Roti Canai and Chicken Curry.

The guests enjoyed themselves and looked forward to upcoming events.
