Malaysia Hosts 1st SEA-LAC Central Bank Governors' Meeting

 

 

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 15 (Bernama) -- Central Bank Governors from South East Asia (SEA), Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) gathered Friday for the first time in Kuala Lumpur, for the inaugural SEA-LAC Central Bank Governors' Meeting.

Co-hosted by Bank Negara Malaysia and Banco Central de la Repzblica Argentina, the event will see the exchange of views on important developments affecting the economic, monetary and financial interests of the three regions, a statement from BNM said Friday.

From the Asian region, Governors from the Central Banks of Cambodia, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, Philippines and Thailand, and representatives from Brunei, Japan, and Singapore attended the Meeting.

Latin America and the Caribbean were represented by the Governors from the Central Banks of Argentina, Barbados, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, and Uruguay, and representatives from Chile, Ecuador and Peru.

Bank Negara said the meeting provided a platform for the central banks of South East Asia and Latin America to engage in discussions related to issues of mutual interest to promote greater cooperation in the economic and financial sectors.
