Presentation of Credential
His Excellency Ambassador Abdullah Faiz Zain, presented his Letter of Credential as Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary of Malaysia to the Republic of Chile to President Ricardo Lagos Escobar in a simple, dignified and elegant ceremony at the Presidential Palace, the La Moneda, in Santiago on the 13th February 2006. Ambassador Abdullah Faiz was accompanied by three embassy officials, Mr. Muhammad Radzi Jamaludin, First Secretary; Mr. Jonathan Rao James, Trade Commissioner; and Mr. Roslan Che Ahmad, Third Secretary.
Also present to witness the Ceremony were H.E. Mr. Ignacio Walker Prieto, Foreign Minister and H.E. Ambassador Franciso Marambio, Chief of Protocol.
Ambassador Abdullah Faiz was the first Malaysian Ambassador to Timor-Leste from 15 September 2003 to 30 November 2005 before being posted to Santiago. He has been posted to New York (1985-1988), Myanmar (1989-1992), Geneva (1992-1995) and New York (1996-2000).
Ambassador Faiz studied at the National Type Primary School, Petaling Jaya; La Salle School, Brickfields; and Victoria Institution, Kuala Lumpur before graduating with a Bachelor in Science (Honours) in Zoology from Universiti Malaya.
During the Ceremony, Ambassador Abdullah Faiz also presented the Letter of Recall of his predecessor Ambassador Arumugam Ganapathy, After the Ceremony, Ambassador Abdullah Faiz had an audience with President Lagos in which both of them took the opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas of mutual benefit to the two countries.
Before leaving the Presidential Palace, Ambassador Abdullah Faiz Zain inspected the Guard of Honour after which the national anthem 'Negaraku' was played.
