
Thursday, 26 May 2022 - Tourism Malaysia Hong Kong and the Ladies Association of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia - Hong Kong chapter (PERWAKILAN Hong Kong), with the support of the Consulate-General, put together a Malaysian Tourism and Batik Workshop at Rumah Malaysia.
Mrs Azlin Ariffin Shah-Yap, spouse of Consul-General of Malaysia delivered welcoming remarks to the attendees comprising of spouses of Consuls-General in Hong Kong, who later tried their hand at batik painting and sarong tying. A presentation on the tourism attractions MalaysiaTrulyAsia has to offer was also given by Tourism Malaysia Hong Kong Director Mrs Tan Mei Leng.
Malaysian batik is a traditional textile art found throughout Malaysia, especially in the east coast states that are Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang. Popular motifs are beautiful depictions of flowers and varieties of flora.
