On 22 November 2024, Consul General Mr. Ahmad Phadil Ismail participated in the “Belt and Road” Forum on People-to-People Connectivity, at the International Convention Centre of Liyuan Resort, Nanning.

Hosted by the Western Returned Scholars Association (Overseas-educated Scholars Association of China), the event aimed at fostering dialogue and strengthening links between China and BRI partner countries.

Tan Sri Ong Tee Keat, former Deputy Speaker of House of Representative, Parliament of Malaysia as well as the former Minister of Transport, Malaysia delivered the keynote address at the event. He made several constructive proposals in promoting people-to-people connectivity, including enhancing public communication via proactive community outreach, and rolling out of corporate social responsibility programs.
Apart from Tan Sri Ong, Secretary-General of the Malaysian Chinese Association and Youth Chief of the Malaysian Chinese Association Dato’ Chong Sin Woon also shared his insights on Scientific and Technological Innovation and High-quality Belt and Road Cooperation during the sub-forum session.
The event was also graced by H.E. Liu Ning, Secretary of CPC Guangxi Committee and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, China.
