The opening ceremony of the 2020 China-Malaysia (Guangxi) Online Durian Festival kicked off in China-Malaysia Qinzhou Industrial Park (CMQIP), Qinzhou City, Guangxi on the 5th of October. Consul General Mr. Azlimi Zakaria attended the event and witnessed more than 300,000 Musang King durians being snapped up within 50 minutes 48 seconds in a flash sale.
The record sales was announced at the launch of the durian festival, which was done online from three sites – in Qinzhou, as well as in Kuala Lumpur and Raub, Pahang. The three-day event took place from 5 to 8 October. This is the first time China organized an online festival for the sales of Malaysian Musang King durian in China, after Malaysia finally gained the approval to export frozen whole durians into China in 2019. Similar event was first organized in 2017 in Nanning.
