On 21 August 2024, Consul General Mr. Phadil Ismail participated in the opening ceremony of the 2024 China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week (CAECW) in Guiyang, Guizhou Province. The event was jointly hosted by China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education, and the Guizhou Provincial Government.

CAECW is an annual educational cooperation forum between China and ASEAN member countries since 2008. The CAECW 2024 focuses on cultural cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between ASEAN and China, promotes educational models that combine innovation, shares experiences and achievements in the fields of education and training.
This year is Malaysia’s 11th time participating in the event and the delegation includes Embassy of Malaysia in Beijing, Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, as well as several learning institutes.

During the event, the Consul General also had several interviews sessions with local media and China’s central media, including Guizhou Daily, Guizhou Radio and Television, and People’s Daily etc.
The Consul General commended China’s effort on enhancing education cooperation through bilateral engagement and ASEAN multilateral platforms. Malaysia encouraged more people-to-people engagement, especially youth exchanges, between the two sides, as youth represent hopes and future of a country and serve as ambassadors for fostering friendship and better understanding between the two sides.

The Consul General pointed out that China has been advancing in the development and application of big data, artificial intelligence, and automation. He added that Malaysia aims to build itself into an international education hub and welcomes the opportunity to work with China in educational cooperation, especially in the areas of TVET and training.

Interview session with People’s Daily
The Consul General wrapped up his 4-day visit to Guiyang by attending the China-ASEAN Traditional Medicine Innovation and Development Conference at Guizhou Hotel. During the meeting, Leu Kim Fey, Professor of Tunku Abdul Rahman University, Malaysia shared his insights on the topic of “Gene expression and pathway analysis of HONE-I treated with Huanglian”.
