On 22 May 2025, the Consul General Mr. Ahmad Phadil Ismail participated in the opening ceremony of the 2025 China (Guangxi)-ASEAN Mining Cooperation Conference (CAMCC) hosted by Guangxi People’s Government, at the Nanning International Convention & Exhibition Center. The ceremony was also graced by H.E. Chen Gang, Secretary of CPC Guangxi Committee, H.E. Xu Dachun, Vice Minister of Natural Resources of China and dignitaries from Timore-Leste, Cambodia and Lao PDR.

The event brought together policymakers, industry leaders and researchers from China and ASEAN to share their insightful discussions and exchanged views on sustainable resource development, collaboration of talent cultivation in mining industry and deepening regional integration.

H.E. Datuk Dr. Ching Thoo A/L Kim, Secretary General of Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability of Malaysia was among the guests of honour to address the opening. He highlighted that Malaysia targets to develop a resilient, transparent, and environmentally responsible mineral industry that contributes to national development and regional cooperation. He also emphasized that Malaysia welcomes greater cooperation in capacity-building, geological data sharing, sustainable mine rehabilitation, and the creation of cross-border value chains.
The event also features over 20 thematic sideline activities including a mining promotion session for Malaysia. The promotion event was co-hosted by the Department of Mineral and Geoscience Malaysia and Guangxi Bureau of Geology and Mineral Prospection and Exploitation.
