On 26 April 2025, the Consul General Mr. Ahmad Phadil Ismail participated in the 2025 Sports and Cultural Exchange Day between Nanning and Consular Missions in Nanning, at Nanning Li Ning Sports Park.
The program was organized by the Foreign Affairs Office (FAO) of Nanning, with the view to promote the friendship and cooperation between people of Nanning and ASEAN member countries. The attendees included several local government agencies, such as Guangxi Foreign Affairs Office, Guangxi Sports Administration, Nanning Government and Nanning Foreing Affairs Office, ASEAN missions in Nanning, Guangxi Liaison Unit of Hong Kong SAR, ASEAN international students studying in Nanning and Nanning New Media Centre.
During his remarks, the Consul General thanked Nanning FAO for hosting the event, and he highlighted that the event provides a great oppourtunity not only for the Consulates General in Nanning to engage with local government agencies, but also for the international students studying in Nanning to learn the culture of Guangxi as well as to engage among ASEAN communities. This is also in line with China’s Neighbourhood Policy proposed by President Xi Jinping that emphasise on pease, stability and prosperity within the region.
The event featured various fun sporting activities, such as tradtional folk games relay, fun run relay, dryland curling and dryland dragon boat rowing. Apart from participating in the fun and games, the event provided great opportunities for each team to foster collaboration and boost morale.

The Malaysian team was comprised of 15 members, including consulate officials and international students studying in Nanning. At the end of the event, the team was awarded the Friendship Award for presenting great partnership and teamwork during the games.
