On 21 November 2024, Consul General Mr. Ahmad Phadil Ismail participated in the 2nd China (Yulin) Spice Industry Expo, at the Yulin Fuda International Spice Exhibition and Conference Centre.

Known as the "Fragrance Capital of the South”, Yulin is the largest distribution centre, trading hub, and pricing centre for spices in China where 80% of China's and over two-thirds of the world's spices are distributed.
The event has attracted a large number of domestic and international tourists and merchants who came for the aroma and explored business opportunities in the spice industry.

Prior to the event, the Consul General also held a courtesy meeting with Yulin City Mayor Zhang Huiqiang on 20 November. He was briefed on the city’s general information and exchanges with Malaysia. He then expressed that he was impressed by the historical relations between the city and Malaysia. He also took the opportunity to promote Malaysia’s spice industry, such as the Sarawak white pepper, and expressed hope to have more engagements with the city in the future.
