On 16 September 2025, the Consul General Mr. Ahmad Phadil Ismail participated in the Awards Ceremony for China-ASEAN AI + Cultural Tourism Innovation Application Competition, at the Crown Plaza Nanning.
Co-hosted by Beihai Municipal Government, Guangxi Department of Culture and Tourism, and Guangxi Big Data Development Bureau, the event aimed at deepening cultural and tourism cooperation between China and ASEAN through the integration of AI and cultural tourism industry.
After its launching in May 2025, the competition managed to attract 506 projects from 336 companies and 170 universities across China and ASEAN. Fifty finalist teams, including eight from Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand, competed in the finals.

During the ceremony, eight Malaysian projects received the Special Honorary Award, while seven and twelve others were honored with the second and third prizes, respectively.
