Consul General hosts dinner for Deputy Director General of Guangxi Foreign Affairs Office and ASEAN Consuls General in Nanning

On 04 November 2025, the Consul General Mr. Ahmad Phadil Ismail hosted a networking dinner at the Na-Lotus Hotel for Mr. Song Haijun, Deputy Director General of Guangxi Foreign Affairs Office and other ASEAN Consuls General in Nanning.

The dinner provided the opportunity for the Consul General to brief the guests on the key outcomes of the 47th ASEAN Summit which was held in Kuala Lumpur from 26 to 28 October 2025. The Consul General highlighted that there were 14 Summits that produces 80 outcome documents throughout the 3-day event. Notable achievements included the formal admission of Timor-Leste as the bloc's 11th member state and the signing of Kuala Lumpur Peace Accord between Cambodia and Thailand that builds upon the ceasefire agreement reached in July 2025 in Putrajaya. He added that the events manage to highlight the Summit’s role in underscoring ASEAN’s enduring principle of inclusivity and vision of shared progress and prosperity.

 

He also highlighted the outcomes from the subsequent 28th ASEAN-China Summit, headlined by the signing of the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area 3.0 Upgrade Protocol. This upgrade is a strategic move to modernize the trade framework through integrating new and emerging areas such as digital economy, green economy, and sustainability.

The dinner gathering provided a good opportunity to foster closer intra-ASEAN engagement and contribute to the ongoing growth of the ASEAN-China comprehensive strategic partnership.
