On 03 July 2025, the Consul General Mr. Ahmad Phadil Ismail hosted a networking luncheon with Mr. Song Haijun, Deputy Director General of Guangxi Foreign Affairs Office and other ASEAN Consuls General in Nanning, at Na-Lotus Hotel.
The event provided a platform for the Consul General to brief the guests on the major outcomes of the 46th ASEAN Summit which was successfully held on 26-27 May 2025, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. During the gathering, the guests also discussed on regional and multilateral issues of mutual concerns.

On the 46th ASEAN Summit, the Consul General highlighted two issues that were addressed during the plenary session, namely the development of the ASEAN Community and ASEAN external relations. He then shared the major decisions that were made during the Summit, in particular the adoption of the Kuala Lumpur Declaration on ASEAN 2045: Our Shared Future, which was signed by ASEAN leaders, as well as the admission of Timor-Leste as the 11th ASEAN Member States.

He also highlighted the ASEAN-GCC-China Summit hosted by Malaysia and chaired by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. He underscored that the inaugural trilateral summit was an initiative by the Prime Minister to diversify ASEAN’s trading partners through new partnerships amid the current global economic uncertainties.
He further shared that the ASEAN-GCC-China Summit identified several priority sectors for collaboration, among others, investment and trade, supply chains, food security, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, smart infrastructure, digital economy, clean energy and green technology.
