On 09 May 2023, Consul General Mr. Ahmad Phadil Ismail participated in the Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM) on the 20th CAEXPO, which is scheduled to be held from 16-19 September 2023, with the theme “Work together for a harmonious home and a shared future”.
During the meeting, Mr. Yu Xiang, Deputy Director General of Department of Asian Affairs of MOFCOM, and Dr. Wei Zhaohui, Secretary General of CAEXPO Secretariat, briefed the participants on economic and trade cooperation between China and ASEAN in 2022 and the general work plan for the 20th CAEXPO.
During the meeting, the award ceremony for contributions to the 19th CAEXPO by participating countries was also held. As last year’s Country of Honour, Malaysia was presented with four prizes, namely “Best Exhibitor Organizer”, “Best Trade and Economic Outcomes” , “Best Promotion on Investment Cooperation”, and “Best National Pavilion”.
Also present for the meeting were Mdm. Sharimahton Mat Saleh, Deputy CEO of MATRADE, and officials from MIDA, MATRADE and Tourism Guangzhou. The meeting was also well attended by Consuls-General in Nanning, representatives from relevant departments in charge of commerce from 10 ASEAN member states, and ASEAN Secretariat.
