Consul General’s Interview with Guangxi Daily

In the afternoon of 18 April 2025, the Consul General Mr. Ahmad Phadil Ismail was interviewed by Guangxi Daily, at the Chancery. The interview was in conjunction with the state visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Malaysia on 15-17 April 2025.

During the interview, the Consul General highlighted that the strategic partnership between Malaysia and China was further elevated after the fruitful meetings between the leaders of the two countries during the visit.

He underlinded that the three-nation visits of President Xi demonstrated the importance of ASEAN in China’s Neighbourhood Diplomacy. He further reaffirmed that, as the ASEAN Chair for 2025, Malaysia will continue to promote ASEAN as a regional political, economic and social bloc in its relations with China.  

Talking about Malaysia-Guangxi relations, the Consul General welcomed the progress made in developing China-Malaysia “Two Countries, Twin Parks” flagship projects and in facilitating trade cooperation through the CAEXPO platform. He also welcomed the MoU signed in AI development between the two sides during Governor Lan Tianli’s working visit to Malaysia on 9 -12 April. He urged both sides to continue to explore ways to enhance cooperation between two sides, including through greater engagement and more attractive business packages. 

The Consul General further encouraged both sides to foster better understanding and stronger relationships through promoting tourism, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people connections, particularly through youth exchange programs.
