Following Chinese President Xi Jinping’s state visit to Malaysia on 15-17 April 2025, the Consul General Mr. Ahmad Phadil Ismail sat down for an interview with Guangxi Radio and Television in the morning of 18 April 2025, to discuss his thoughts on the meeting between the leaders of the two countries and his expectations on the impact of the visit towards the development of Malaysian- Guangxi relations.

During the interview, the Consul General spoke highly of China’s commiment to enhancing bilateral ties through high-level exchanges. He highlighted that the friendly relations between the two countries were further bolstered with the signing of over 30 MoUs spanning various sectors.

Apart from intergovernmental engagement, the Consul General also encouraged more people to people exchanges between both sides, welcoming more visitors from China to explore Malaysia’s diverse culture, history and beautiful landscapes, particulary during the celebration of Visit Malaysia Year which will take place in 2026.
The Consul General further shared that Malaysia and Guangxi has signed several MoUs including the establishment of China - Malaysia AI Innovation Cooperation Center during Guangxi Governor H.E. Lan Tianli’s working visit to Malaysia in early April. He welcomed more projects and intiatives that will lead to increase Malaysia-Guangxi cooperation in different areas, particularly in trade and investment.
