Consul General’s Interview with Guangxi Radio and Television

In the afternoon of 06 March 2025, the Consul General Mr. Ahmad Phadil Ismail had an exclusive interview session with Guangxi Radio and Television in conjunction with the ongoing China’s “Two Sessions”, at the Chancery.

The Consul General commanded China’s performance in 2024 and shared his insights on the challenges that China will face in 2025 in terms of stimulating the economy. Additionally, he reaffirmed China’s significant role to ASEAN in terms of trade and investment and welcomed China’s decision to continue with its open development policy.  

He also stressed that, as the Chair of ASEAN in 2025, Malaysia is committed to advancing ASEAN Economic Community and ASEAN-China relations. Bilaterally, Malaysia will continue to attract more investment from China to Malaysia. Regionally, Kuala Lumpur will be hosting the first Summit between ASEAN, China and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).  

Taking the opportunity, he then highlighted Malaysia’s National Semiconductor Strategy (NSS) and the nation’s significant role in the global semiconductor industry especially in testing and packaging. He then stressed that Malaysia is looking at increasing engagement with China in AI, renewable energy, advanced manufacturing and digital economy.

He also commended the positive role of CAEXPO and CABIS in terms of facilitating Malaysia’s products into the vast Chinese market and reaffirmed that Malaysia will continue to support the upcoming session in September this year with a bigger participation.
