Consul-General of Malaysia in Nanning Mr. Azlimi bin Zakaria, hosted a reception at Nanning Shangri-la hotel on 18 September 2022 to jointly celebrate the 59th Malaysia Day and promote Malaysia’s authentic food and culture.
H.E. Raja Dato’ Nushirwan Zainal Abidin, Ambassador of Malaysia to China, attended the event as the Guest of Honour.
In his speech, he shared the history of the establishment of Malaysia and its achievements in the past years. He also highlighted that Malaysia is a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic nation that all the people are living in harmony. And he further welcomed the visit of Chinese tourists to Malaysia as the country fully opened its border in August 2022.
The reception was co-organized by Tourism Malaysia, MATRADE Guangzhou and Education Malaysia in Beijing, and graced by around 150 guests including Malaysian agencies’ officials and their cooperation partners, Malaysia’s alumni, as well as Malaysians in Nanning.
Also highlighted the event were traditional Malay dances, poets and songs present by students majoring in Bahasa Melayu from local Guangxi Minzu University.
