On 10 February 2025, the Consul General Mr. Ahmad Phadil Ismail attended the 2025 Spring Tea Gathering hosted by Director General of Guangxi Department of Commerce (DOFCOM), at Nanning Mingdu Lake Side Hotel.

The program included three agendas, namely Guangxi economic briefing, experience of Chinese traditional culture and dinner hosted by the Director General.

The briefing session began with a report on the trade economic cooperation between Guangxi and ASEAN, and the work plans for 2025 by DOFCOM Deputy Director-General Mr. Liu Xiang.
During the program, ASEAN Consuls General were given the opportunity to deliver remarks. For Malaysia, the Consul General reaffirmed the strong Malaysia-China relations underpinned by trade and investment cooperation and regular engagement between leaders, officials and ordinary peoples.
He then shared the trade performance between Malaysia and China in 2024, including with Guangxi that is still moderate and saw a modest growth. He also shared Malaysia’s active participation in the 21st CAEXPO and CABIS.

Moving forward, the Consul General reassured that the Consulate is looking forward to working closely with DOFCOM in 2025. He also shared his insights on the new ways to broadening and deepening the economic partnerships between Malaysia and Guangxi.

Also present at the event were Consuls General from other ASEAN missions in Nanning and representatives from relevant chambers of commerce.
