On 04 September 2024, the Consulate General of Malaysia in Nanning together with the Department of Commerce of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region co-hosted a “Malaysia Day Event” at China-ASEAN Mercantile Exchange (CAMEX) in Nanning. With the theme, Embracing Friendship: A Malaysia–China Story, the event was to celebrate the 67th National Day of Malaysia and the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of the Diplomatic Relations between Malaysia and the People’s Republic of China.

The event was attended by nearly 400 guests from local Government agencies, diplomatic corps, Malaysian diaspora and students, business community and media.
The event started with the National Anthems of Malaysia and People’s Republic of China, followed by the addressed by the Consul General. In his address, the Consul General highlighted an overview of the historic relations between Malaysia and China in the past fifty years, including a number of high-level exchange visits between the two countries, increasing trade and investment cooperation. He also welcomed more travelers from China to visit Malaysia and iterated Malaysia’s commitments to strengthening bilateral, social and economic ties with China.

Mr. Cai Zhenjun, Level II Bureau Rank Official of General Office of Guangxi People’s Government was present as the Guest of Honour. In his remarks, Mr. Cai highlighted the closed ties between Guangxi and Malaysia. He also stressed that Guangxi is ready to deepen collaboration with Malaysia in the fields of economy, trade, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.


Through the event, the Consulate General showcased two dance performances that represent both Malaysian and Chinese cultures. The business community were also briefed on the business environment by the Trade Consul based in Guangzhou. Apart from cultural performance, the Consulate also took the opportunity to promote Malaysian products during the event, as well as treated the guests with Malaysian authentic cuisines such as Sate Ayam, Nasi Lemak, Rojak Mamak and Mee Goreng.

The guests were also hosted a tour to Malaysia Pavilion, which is an all-year-round platform located at CAMEX that showcase the epitome of Malaysia, including local specialty, diverse culture and dynamic economy.
