On 02 April 2026, Consul General Mr. Ahmad Phadil Ismail participated in the 2026 Guangxi E-commerce for Enterprise and Public Benefit-Yuhui Tongxing Silk Road E-commerce Live Streaming Special Training, at the Guangxi International Business Vocational College.

Co-hosted by the Department of Commerce, Department of Education, and Department of Human Resources and Social Security of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the event aimed at building a dialogue platform between China and ASEAN for e-commerce talent development, live streaming technology exchanges, and the circulation of premium products from both sides.

In his remarks during the event, the Consul General commended the organizers for fostering exchanges and mutual learning among participants in e-commerce knowledge, practical skills, and advanced regional experience. He stressed that ASEAN–China ties has evolved into a sophisticated digital ecosystem driven by CAFTA 3.0 and the ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement. Borderless e-commerce has also emerged as a key engine for regional cooperation and sustained economic growth.
He highlighted that Malaysian consumer products such as Musang King durian, white coffee, and bird’s nest are gaining popularity in China, with over 13,000 Malaysian companies can now effectively connect with Chinese consumers through modern e-commerce platforms. At the same time, Malaysia has successfully emerged as the preferred gateway for Chinese goods into ASEAN, fostering an increasingly robust and mutually beneficial e-commerce exchange.

He added that with the launch of Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VMY 2026) and the ACFTA 3.0 upgrade, the digital economy has become a primary driver of Malaysia’s GDP. He also invited all participants to visit Malaysia during the VMY 2026 campaign and experience the nation’s diversity and vitality.

The Consul General was also interviewed by local media outlets following the event. He reaffirmed the Consulate General’s commitment to deepening engagement with all parties in Guangxi in e-commerce talent development, product promotion, and trade facilitation to elevate the China-Malaysia comprehensive strategic partnership to greater heights.

Also in attendance were Ms. Zhu Yanling, Deputy Director General of Guangxi Department of Commerce, Mr. Wang Shubin, Secretary of the CPC Party Committee of Guangxi International Business Vocational College, the internet celebrity Mr. Dong Yuhui who also served as the Director and General Manager of his independent account "Yuhui Tongxing (or Time with Yuhui) ", as well as diplomats from other ASEAN missions in Nanning.
