On 13 May 2025, Malaysia's Premium Products & Halal Industry Promotion Event kicked off in Nanning under the theme “Amity, Sincerity, Mutual Benefit, and Inclusiveness - Jointly Forge a New Landscape in Dual-Cycle Development of Domestic and International Trade”.
The event was co-hosted by the Consulate General of Malaysia in Nanning, Guangxi Department of Commerce, Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) Guangzhou Office, and China–ASEAN Mercantile Exchange (CAMEX), aimed at promoting Malaysia’s premium products and halal industry.

In his address, the Consul General Mr. Ahmad Phadil Ismail highlighted the benefits and advantages of expanding business with Malaysia through the elaboration on Malaysia-China bilateral collaboration, regional cooperation and tourism.
He reaffirmed the excellent ties between Malaysia and China, underscored by the strategic partnership that is built on mutual understanding and mutual respect, especially through the exchanges of high-level visits in the past three years.
The Consul General emphasised that as the ASEAN Chair in 2025, Malaysia will continue to promote ASEAN as a regional political, economic and social bloc in its relations with China. He highlighted Malaysia’s efforts in promoting regional cooperation beyond the tradtional partner through the hosting of the first summit between ASEAN, China and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in May.
The Consul General also highlighted the important role of China for Malaysia in the field of tourism and he welcomed more Chinese tourists to explore the unique cultural diversity of Malaysia during the Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
In conclusion, he encouraged Chinese businesses to consider Malaysia as their top trade and investment destination and to work with Malaysian companies in pursuit of scaling up operations and developing innovative solutions that benefit businesses and people for the two sides.

The participants were also briefed by Mr. Mohamad Haris Abdul Latiff, Malaysia’s Trade Consul based in Guangzhou on the trade performance between Malaysia and China, the vast islamic market as well as Malaysia’s core capabilities in Halal industry, namely global Halal leader, the international recognised Halal certificate, enabling Halal environment and diverse competitive industry. The attendees were further presented with MIHAS (Malaysia International Halal Showcase) — the Global Halal Market’s Preferred Procurement Platform.
