On 05 December 2024, Consul General Mr. Ahmad Phadil Ismail attended a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony between Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Guilin University of Electronic Technology (GUET) and Starway International, at GUET Technology Service Centre in Nanning.
In his remarks, the Consul General commended the MoU signing among the three parties. He stressed that Malaysia valued the collaborative opportunity with China in terms of higher education. As Malaysia is working towards developing into an international higher education hub, Malaysia welcomed more Chinese students to choose Malaysia as the destination for higher education.
The event was also attended by Tan Sri Liow Tiong Lai, former Minister of Transport and former Minister of Health and Prof. Dr. Abdul Halim Abdul Gafor, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International Affairs) of UKM. During his remarks, Tan Sri Liow pointed out that education is an important bonds between the China-Malaysia relations. Malaysia will continue to enhance collaboration with China in higher education and talents cultivation.
Prof. Dr. Abdul Halim in his remarks highlighted that the MoU signing is timely as Malaysia-China celebrated the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relation. He believed that the partnership will greatly benefit both institutions in terms of academics and research, and strengthen the internationalization efforts which have contributed to UKM’s development.
