In the afternoon of 09 March 2026, Consul General Mr. Ahmad Phadil Ismail attended the New Folk Song Gala-Selangor Edition & Tourism Promotion Conference, at the auditorium of Guangxi Radio and Television Station (GRTS). The event was co-hosted by Tourism Selangor, Malaysia and GRTS aiming at strengthening tourism cooperation between both sides.
The event featured tourism presentation and industry B2B matchmaking, bringing together government officials, leading travel industry players from both sides, representatives from media and airline sectors.
During his remarks, the Consul General highlighted the long-standing and friendly Malaysia-China ties underpinned by vibrant trade, shared history and strong people-to-people connections.
He underscored that the charm of Malaysia’s culture, history and landscape which was specially highlighted by President Xi during his visit to Malaysia in April last year has attracted Chinese tourists to visit Malaysia.
He highlighted that Selangor is an essential destination for travellers as it is the primary gateway and the most developed state of Malaysia. He added that Malaysia is a premier destination for travellers due to its vibrant culture, stunning nature, charming people, incredible shopping experiences and world-renowned cuisines.
Also in attendance were Dato’ Ng Suee Lim, Executive Councillor for Local Government, Tourism, New Village Development for the State of Selangor, Ms. Chua Yee Ling, Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Selangor, Malaysia, and Ms. Zheng Huawen, Deputy President of GRTS.
