On 02 February 2026, Consul General Mr. Ahmad Phadil Ismail participated in the 5th Session of the 14th People’s Congress of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, at the auditorium of the Guangxi People’s Hall.
While delivering the government work report, H.E. Wei Tao, Governor of Guangxi People’s Government, highlighted the region is targeting an economic growth of 5% in 2026. To achieve this, Guangxi will focus on advancing smart economy especially AI development, boosting consumption, improving business environment, continuing to expand high-standard opening up, as well as advancing green low-carbon development.

After the opening, the Consul General was interviewed by media from Guangxi Radio and Television and Guangxi International Communication Centre. He highlighted his interest in the region’s future development direction and its 15th five-year plan, in particular on the upgraded development of Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park under the China-Malaysia “Two Countries, Twin Parks” initiatives. He stressed that Malaysia welcomes more investment from China and Guangxi especially in high-tech sectors. Malaysia is also seeking to deepen cooperation with China in AI through Guangxi by leveraging its pivotal role as a gateway connecting China and ASEAN.
