On 14 August 2024, Consul General Mr. Ahmad Phadil Ismail co-hosted the press conference for Country of Honour of the 21st China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) with Dr. Wei Zhaohui, Secretary General of CAEXPO Secretariat, at Howard Johnson CAEXPO Plaza, Nanning.

The Consul General commended the significant role of CAEXPO in increasing the visibility and presence of Malaysian products and service in Chinese market. He also highlighted that Malaysia Pavilion in CAEXPO is one of the programmes planned under the economic pillar of the 50th anniversary commemoration of Malaysia–China relations. Malaysia is targeting an even bigger participation in the 21st CAEXPO, expecting companies, government agencies and trade associations to fill up 150 booths.

During the event, he took the opportunity to urge both sides to continue to find ways to broadening and deepening the economic partnerships between the two countries. He then shared that Malaysia has extended visa exemption for Chinese travellers until the end of 2026 in an effort to welcome more visitors, in particular business travellers from China to Malaysia and further expand the trade relations.
During the press briefing, YBhg. Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz, CEO of MATRADE delivered a video message. He elaborated Malaysia’s participation from the aspects of Malaysia Pavilion for trade, investment and tourism, Malaysia City of Charm Pavilion and Business Roundtable Dialogue.

Dr. Wei Zhaohui commended Malaysia’s active participation in the CAEXPO over the past 20 years, and reaffirmed that the CAEXPO Secretariat will continue to ensure high-standard service for Malaysia and relevant participating countries.
