On 28 October 2025, the Consul General Mr. Ahmad Phadil Ismail participated in the opening ceremony of the 12th China-ASEAN Nanning Theatre Week 2025, at the Guangxi Culture and Arts Centre.

As an important part of the 3rd China-ASEAN Nanning Culture Month, the Theatre Week brought together outstanding art troupes from eight ASEAN countries namely Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, and the Philippines, and there were also 29 theatrical groups from 11 Chinese provinces and municipalities that showcased the diversity and contemporary appeal of theatrical arts.
Mr. Muhammad Afiq bin Anuar, Senior Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), Malaysia led a 17-member Malaysian delegation from Kedah’s Mek Mulung Seri Mahawangsa Group to attend the event. During the Theatre Week, the performers presented serveral wonderful performances including "Mek Mulung" – a traditional theatre form inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2023.
The performance was more than a visual feast for the local community. It fostered a deeper appreciation for Malaysian culture and strengthened the bonds of friendship between China and Malaysia.
