The 2025 China (Guangxi) – ASEAN Think Tank Dialogue Forum opens in Nanning

On 20 December 2025, the Consul General Mr. Ahmad Phadil Ismail participated in the opening ceremony of the 2025 China (Guangxi) – ASEAN Think Tank Dialogue Forum, at the Howard Johnson CAEXPO Plaza Nanning.

 

Themed “Intelligent Connectivity, Our Shared Future – A New Vision for China – ASEAN Cooperation”, the event managed to gather a diverse group of experts and scholars from universities, think tanks, and research institutions across China and beyond. They held in-depth discussions on several key topics, including China-ASEAN Free Trade Area 3.0 and China-ASEAN Industrial Connectivity, Intelligence Transformation and the Prospects of China-ASEAN cooperation in AI Application, New Quality Growth and a New Engine for Regional Economic Innovation.

During the keynote session, Tan Sri Ong Tee Keat, former Minister of Transport of Malaysia and President of the Belt and Road Initiative Caucus for Asia Pacific (BRICAP), presented on the theme “Whither China-ASEAN Partnership in the Evolving Geopolitical Landscape?”

In the context of Artificial Intelligence, Mr. Choong Chee Keong, Vice President and Senior Professor of Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia also shared his perspectives on how AI can empower a China–ASEAN community of shared future.

Also in attendance were H.E. Lu Xinning, Vice Governor of Guangxi government, senior officials from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the CPC Central Committee.
