The 2026 Guangxi New Silk Road New Year E-commerce Festival & Shopping in China • Guangxi Station held in Nanning

On 19 December 2025, the Consul General Mr. Ahmad Phadil Ismail participated in the opening ceremony of the 2026 Guangxi New Silk Road New Year E-commerce Festival & Shopping in China • Guangxi Station, at the Nanhu Park Water Screen Cinema Square in Nanning. The event was graced by H.E. Chen Gang, Secretary of CPC Guangxi Committee and H.E. Wei Tao, Governor of the Guangxi government.

The event was hosted by Guangxi People's Government, co-organized by Guangxi Department of Commerce, Guangxi Department of Culture and Tourism, Guangxi Department of Education, Guangxi Foreign Affairs Office, Nanning Municipal People's Government, and supported by the Consulate General of Malaysia in Nanning and other ASEAN missions based in Nanning, Guangzhou and Beijing.

 

During the event, the Consul General commended the significant role of the Festival in introducing new Malaysian products to the Chinese market through a pre-recorded video. He also highlighted Guangxi's position as a pivotal China-ASEAN trade hub and welcomed more investment from Guangxi in other parts of Malaysia, building on the successful collaboration in the “Two Countries, Twin Parks” initiative.

 

Launched in 2022, the Festival is an annual celebration that aims to promote closer China-ASEAN ties in e-commerce. It aims to foster closer economic and trade ties, in particular e-commerce and digital economy, between China and ASEAN by channeling more ASEAN products into the Chinese market via Guangxi.

Also in attendance were Ambassador of Singapore to China, diplomatic corps from other ASEAN missions and senior officials from local government agencies.
