Consulate General of Malaysia in Nanning opened the Book of Condolences on 16 and 17 April 2025, in honor of the late H.E. Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, the 5th Prime Minister of Malaysia who passed away on 14 April 2025.

Representatives from local governments, namely Mr. Song Haijun, Deputy Director General of Guangxi Foreign Affairs Office and Mr. Song Wei, Deputy Director of Nanning Foreign Affairs Office laid wreaths and signed the Book of Condolences at the Consulate, expressing their sympathies over the passing of the former Prime Minister.

Heads and members of consular missions in Nanning were among those who paid their respects. Their presence and heartfelt condolences served as a poignant tribute to the late Prime Minister.
H.E. Tun Abdullah was sworn in as Malaysia’s 5th Prime Minister on 31 October 2003. He prioritized good governance, civil service reform, anti-corruption efforts, and interfaith dialogue. He also introduced the concept of Islam Hadhari, or Civilizational Islam, aimed at promoting a progressive and inclusive understanding of Islam compatible with modern development.
