UPDATE: DEVELOPMENTS CONCERNING THE RECENT COVID-19 OUTBREAK IN BEIJING (AS OF 19 JUNE 2020)
The Embassy of Malaysia in Beijing is closely monitoring the recent outbreak of Covid-19 in parts of the city. The situation is presently under control. During this period, no Malaysians have been reported to be infected by Covid-19 in Beijing and in China. Any Malaysians in Beijing who believe they may be infected should contact the Embassy in order to ensure appropriate consular assistance can be provided.
The relevant authorities in Beijing are taking several prevention and control measures to address this situation, including enhanced regulations for travel in and out of affected areas. All Malaysians in Beijing should comply with relevant local health screening regulations, and avoid non-essential travel to affected districts.
Malaysians residing in Beijing or planning their travel to and from Beijing are also advised to continue to take the necessary precautionary measures. The Embassy encourages all Malaysians in China to take into account possible disruptions to travel and transportation when making travel arrangements.
All Malaysians in the People’s Republic of China are encouraged to provide the Embassy or nearest Consulate-General with contact details of persons to be notified in case of an emergency, if they have not done so already. This can be done through the following link: https://is.gd/MyCn2020 . The Embassy and Consulates-General are on 24-hour standby for Malaysians who are in urgent need of consular assistance.
The Embassy reiterates its advice to all Malaysians in China to remain calm and update themselves on the situation, via the local media as well as the websites and official social media accounts of the Beijing Municipal Health Commission (http://wjw.beijing.gov.cn/) and the National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China (http://en.nhc.gov.cn/).
