The Consulate General of Malaysia in Shanghai, in collaboration with Shanghai Shen Tuo Co., Ltd. and PERWAKILAN successfully organized the "Little Diplomats" program on 14 June 2026 at Land Garden, Xuhui District. Aimed to promote Malaysian cultural values and foster cultural exchanges between Malaysian and Chinese children, the event brought together approximately 35 participants.
The program commenced with a welcoming speech by the Consul General, Mr. Mohd Shahafeez Shaharis. This was followed by a presentation titled “First Impression of Malaysia” which highlighted Malaysia’s culture, tourism attractions and its diplomatic relations with China.
To provide an immersive experience, the children participated in an interactive Malay language session where they learned basic phrases and sang together. They were also introduced to the Malaysian Ringgit and enjoyed learning the traditional game of congkak.
The talent show segment featured Malaysian children performing traditional dances to "Joget Pahang" and showcasing traditional costumes. Chinese participants also contributed to the cultural exchange by sharing their skills in singing and musical instruments.
The event concluded with a celebration of Malaysian cuisine. Participants had the opportunity to prepare roti jala, watch a live teh tarik performance and sample a variety of traditional dishes, including nasi lemak, satay and kuih seri muka.
