Sabah is located on the northern part of the Borneo Island, and is part of Malaysia. Sabah's signature attractions range from nature based to cultural attractions with the intention of conservation and preservation in mind. Sabah encapsulates everything from timeless rainforests, picturesque white sandy beaches, marine heritage islands in crystal-clear waters, and the majestic Mount Kinabalu, at 4,095m tall. Sabah is also home to 32 different indigenous groups that consist of over 30 ethnic races.
The Malaysian Embassy Helsinki joined forces with team Malaysia at Matka in introducing our beautiful country to Nordic audiences. Thank you to the team from Sabah Tourism Board for highlighting to us the latest developments in Sabah with a view of the Nordic markets. We were pleased to hear that the Nordic volumes had surpassed the pandemic levels and of Sabah's focus and achievements in view of sustainability and responsible tourism.
Sabah has achieved a remarkable milestone by earning a prestigious UNESCO Triple Crown designation, making it the third location globally to attain such distinction. The Kinabalu National Geopark has been officially declared as the Kinabalu UNESCO Global Geopark, adding to Sabah's existing UNESCO recognitions: the World Heritage Site (declared on 2 December 2000) and the UNESCO Crocker Range Biosphere Reserve (declared on 12 June 2014).

Sabah sijaitsee Borneon saaren pohjoisosassa ja on osa Malesiaa. Sabah on tunnettu mieleenpainuvista luonto- ja kulttuurinähtävyyksistä, jossa painotetaan suojelua ja säilyvyyttä. Sabahissa yhdistyy kaikkea ajattomista sademetsistä, maalauksellisista valkoisista hiekkarannoista, kristallinkirkkaissa vesissä olevista meriperinnön saarista ja majesteettisesta Kinabalu-vuoresta, joka on 4 095 metriä korkea. Sabahissa asuu 32 eri alkuperäiskansojen ryhmää, jotka koostuvat yli 30 etnisestä ryhmästä.
