In commemoration of the 45th Anniversary of the formation of ASEAN, the ASEAN Helsinki Committee (AHC) hosted a joint ASEAN Flag Hoisting event on 8 August 2012 at the Indonesian Embassy.
Senior Officials from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland as well as Heads of Diplomatic Mission and representatives of the ASEAN Dialogue Partners were present to show support and solidarity to ASEAN.
H.E. Cheah Choong Kit, Ambassador of Malaysia and Chairman of AHC delivered a speech highlighting the purpose of the event; current developments in ASEAN; new initiative adopted at the 20th ASEAN Summit in Cambodia i.e. the Global Movement of the Moderates (GMM); expressing appreciation to the ASEAN Dialogue Partners for their unwavering support; and extending ASEAN’s commitment to the promotion of closer cooperation with the EU countries in general and Finland in particular.
The ASEAN Flag Hoisting ceremony was followed by a reception, where all the ASEAN Missions had contributed their respective national dishes.
