Malaysian Embassy Helsinki celebrated the Gong Xi Raya Open House 2024 with fellow Malaysians in Finland on 14 April 2024. The event was organised in conjunction with Malaysia’s main religious and cultural celebrations and festivals (Chinese New Year and Hari Raya Aidilfitri) and had a participation of around 150 people (Malaysians and Friends of Malaysia -FOM) from all over the country.
2. The event began with the singing of our ‘Negaraku’ before proceeding with the Welcoming Remarks by Mr Mohamed Ariff Mohamed Ali, Charge d’affaires followed then by the reply remarks by Ms Anissa Margono, representative of the Suomi-Malesia Yhdistys / Finland-Malaysia Association . The remarks focused on welcoming fresh faces, engagement with new people, as well as strengthen ongoing friendship. We also took the opportunity to organise this inaugural event as a way to bring the communities together.
3. After the formalities, the guest were then invited to proceed to taste the tentalising Malaysian cuisine that was offered on the day, prepared mainly by PERWAKILAN Helsinki as well as contribution by Malaysian volunteers.
4. Overall, base on our record, this was the largest gathering of Malaysians in Finland since the establishment of the Embassy and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming as we managed to bring together fellow Malaysians and FoM together to celebrate the uniqueness of our shared culture – best described through our Malaysian food and Malaysian hospitality.
5. This of course is in line with our efforts in promoting the concept of Malaysia Madani as well as our ongoing Program Mendamping Rakyat Malaysia – PMRM initiatives.
