The Malaysian Embassy together with the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) organised a seminar in Helsinki on 10 September discussing the current trends in the world market for palm oil in terms of opportunities and challenges.
The main speaker of the event was Dr. Kalanithi Nesaretnam, who is based in the MPOB office in Brussels, Belgium. The seminar addressed questions such as the health benefits of palm oil and the sustainability efforts of the industry. The seminar was a success with lively discussion and participation by ASEAN Ambassadors, the Ambassador of India, Finnwatch, and Unilever representatives, among others.
The oil palm industry forms the economic backbone of Malaysia. MPOB is the Malaysian government's agency entrusted to serve the country’s oil palm industry.
