H.E. Dato Blanche Olbery, Ambassador of Malaysia to Finland, together with members of the Embassy of Malaysia visited the Halton factories in Kausala and Lahti on 29 June 2015. The visit was hosted by Mr. Mika Halttunen, Chairman of the Board, Halton Group.
Halton Group is an example of a Finnish company with a successful internationalisation strategy. The company has operations in 30 countries, including Malaysia. Asia has a central role in Halton's strategy, as the company is targeting fast growth in the emerging markets. The Asian expansion is led from Malaysia, where Halton established its first Asian office and manufacturing facility in 1996. Halton Group Malaysia sales office, manufacturing facilities and an R&D centre are located in Selangor, Malaysia.
The company also has innovation hubs in nine countries. Research and development has been important for the company since the beginning. During the visit Mr. Halttunen told the Embassy delegation about the new R&D products being launched in Malaysia relating to commercial kitchen ventilation. The Malaysian operations are part of the company’s Halton Foodservice strategic business area.
Mr. Mika Halttunen told the Embassy that the company’s success, despite its small size, is largely based on the belief in management by values. Halton promotes local entrepreneurship and Malaysia is a good example of this, where the local team runs the business on their own, according to Halton’s values.
Halton Group is a family company with its roots in the town of Kausala, in the municipality of Iitti, in the Kymenlaakso region in southern Finland. The company was founded in 1969 by Seppo Halttunen and is owned by Halttunen family. The company specialises in indoor climate and indoor environmental products, services and solutions.
