2016 NATIONAL DAY RECEPTION - 15 SEPTEMBER 2016

 On the occasion of the 2016 Hari Malaysia (Malaysia Day) celebration, a National Day reception was held at Rumah Malaysia on Thursday, 15 September 2016. Among the guests were members of the diplomatic corps, senior officials of the Quai D’Orsay, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs; senior officials of  various French ministries, representatives of international and regional organizations as well as captains of French businesses and industry.

The reception was also attended by the Honourable Dato’ Seri Hajah Rohani binti Haji Abdul Karim, Minister of Women, Family and Community Development; and Mr. Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour, Deputy Governor of the Malaysian Central Bank (Bank Negara) as they were both on Working Visits in Paris.

At the event, the French and foreign guests were introduced to the exquisite Malaysian “char kueh teow“. There were also food stalls demonstrating and serving popular Malaysian favourites such as satay, roti jala and teh tarik.

In line with the Embassy’s effort to promote Malaysia among the French, brochures and promotional materials on tourism in Malaysia were distributed as door gifts to guests.

The reception to celebrate Malaysia’s National Day was well attended. With this event, Malaysia was able to promote camaraderie among the French and Malaysians in France. Guests were also able to get a glimpse at the highlights of Malaysia including but not limited to food and culture. Malaysia was also promoted as a tourist, investment, and education destination by the respective agencies based in Paris.
