On 5 to 6 March 2020, H.E. Ambassador Dato’ Dr. Azfar Mohamad Mustafar together with the other ASEAN Ambassadors in France, made a visit to Marseille at the invitation of Mayor Jean-Claude Gaudin. The delegation was welcomed and hosted to lunch by Deputy Mayor Mr. Jean Roatta. The Deputy Mayor said it was a huge privilege to meet the Ambassadors and develop strong working relationship between Marseille and ASEAN Countries.
The Ambassadors later had a meeting with President of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Mr. Renaud Muselier, who talked fondly about his experience working with ASEAN countries when serving as an advisor under President Jacques Chirac.
During the two-day visit, the delegation also visited The Camp, a high-tech training facility providing lodging, space and opportunities for everyone to develop innovative solutions. The Camp expressed its interest to work with Southeast Asian countries to expand its network.
The Ambassadors then visited Airbus Helicopters and the Port of Marseille to meet their respective heads, followed by fruitful discussions. A seminar was also held at the Marseille Chamber of Commerce and Industry to present to Marseille firms and SMEs about business opportunities in ASEAN.
