At the invitation of H.E. Tan Sri Ismail Omar, Ambassador of Malaysia to France, the Special Representative of the French Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development (MFA), Mr. Philippe Varin attended a working luncheon meeting on 26 May 2015 with the ASEAN Committee in Paris (ACP) which was held at the Embassy of Malaysia in Paris.
Other than the ten Ambassadors of the member states of ASEAN in Paris who attended the luncheon, there were six officials representing the French government. They were Madam Michel Papplardo, Vivapolis- Sustainable Cities Senior Advisor to the French Minister of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Stephane Marchisio, Head of Strategic Sectors Support Development, MFA; Mrs Marine Utgé-Royo, Project Manager for Urban Development, MFA; Madam Marie-Cecile Tardieu, Deputy Assistant Secretary Bilateral Economic Relations, Ministry of Economy and Mr. Hervé Boisguillaume, Head of International Affairs Division, Ministry of Ecology.
During the meeting, the French officials presented VIVAPOLIS, an umbrella brand that brings together French stakeholders - both public and private - seeking to promote a shared ambition for sustainable urban development at international level. This process is being collectively developed and supported by the French public authorities and professional federations in the private sector.
The meeting also discussed on the upcoming United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP21) to be held from 30 November to 11 December 2015 in Paris.
