His Excellency Dato’ Dr. Azfar Mohamad Mustafar, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia presented his letters of credence to His Excellency President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa of Portugal on Monday, 9 December 2019 at the Palácio de Belém (Official Residence of the President of Portugal). His Excellency was accompanied by Mr. Syed Nizamuddin Sayed Khassim, First Secretary at the Embassy of Malaysia in Paris. HE Dato’ Dr. Azfar, who is Malaysia’s Ambassador to France, is also accredited to Portugal. There were seven other non-resident Ambassadors that presented their credentials on the same day; from Armenia, Belarus, Botswana, Chad, Ethiopia, Namibia and Slovenia.
Prior to the ceremony, His Excellency had a meeting with Mr. Álvaro Mendonça e Moura, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Portugal and Mrs. Clara Nunes dos Santos, Chief of Protocol at the Palácio das Necessidades, the Portuguese Foreign Ministry.
Later in the evening, HE Dato’ Dr. Azfar received a courtesy call from Mr. Jorge das Neves, Honorary Consul General of Malaysia in Portugal.
