On January 26, 2018, Alexander Böhmer, Head of the Southeast Asia Division of the Global Relations Secretariat of the OECD and his colleague Yuki Matsumoto made a courtesy call on H.E. Datuk Ibrahim Abdullah, Ambassador of Malaysia to France at the Embassy of Malaysia.
During the meeting, both sides were able to discuss the upcoming Southeast Asia Regional Programme (SEARP) Tokyo Ministerial Conference in March 2018. As an extension of this, the interest of the OECD to be more engaged in the ASEAN region within the context of the three ASEAN pillars (ASEAN Political-Security Community, APSC; ASEAN Economic Community, AEC; and ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community, ASCC) was also discussed. Beyond cooperation with the region within the ASEAN context, interest was expressed by the OECD to further enhance the existing coordinated and comprehensive engagements with ASEAN Member States such as Malaysia.
