The Embassy of Malaysia in Paris wishes to welcome H.E. Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Zainal as the new Ambassador of Malaysia to France. H.E. Ambassador arrived in Paris on 29 May 2010.
Prior to his present appointment, H.E. Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Zainal was the Chief of Defence Force, a position that he held from February 2007 to September 2009. Previously, His Excellency held the post of Chief of Army from 2004 to 2007.
Tan Sri Abdul Aziz joined the Royal Malay Regiment (RMR) in 1971 after receiving his education at the Royal Military College in Sungai Besi. He had served in several capacities in RMR battalions and held several key command and staff appointments in various headquarters, departments and training establishments in the Malaysian Armed Forces.
During his helm as Chief of Defence Force, His Excellency had made significant contributions by transforming the organisation through new management philosophy which resulted in the implementation of the balanced scorecard, key performance indexes and the “Fourth Dimension MAF”, full integration and better inter-operability among the Army, Navy and Armed Forces.
His Excellency has a wide repertoire of experiences at the international level. He was Assistant Defence Attaché in the Philippines from 1981 to 1983 besides serving as Malaysian Contingent Commander in Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1996 to 1997 as part of Nato forces. In addition to that, he also attended courses and seminars overseas, such as the Battle Shooting Management Course in the United Kingdom, Peace Support Operations seminar in Victoria, British Columbia and the Pacific Armies Management seminars in Sydney, Tokyo and Calgary.
In recognition of His Excellency’s accomplishments, he was bestowed with numerous awards from His Majesty the King and the Majesties the State Rulers respectively. Renowned for promoting security and stability in the region, he was also conferred awards by His Majesty the King of Thailand, His Majesty the Ruler of Brunei and the Presidents of the Republic of the Philippines, Singapore and Indonesia.
Born in 1951, Tan Sri Abdul Aziz holds a Masters Degree in Management from the Asian Institute of Management, Manila and an Honorary Doctorate in Management from the Malaysian University of Sabah.
He is married to Puan Sri Hajjah Rosita bt Md Mawi and they have two sons and two daughters.
