FAMILY DAY  IN PARIS

IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE CELEBRATION

OF THE BIRTHDAY OF DYMM SPB YANG DI PERTUAN AGONG

ON SATURDAY, 2 JUNE 2007

 

 

 

On the occasion of the birthday of DYMM SPB Yang di-Pertuan Agong, the Embassy of Malaysia in Paris organized a ?Family Day? gathering for all Malaysians on Saturday, 2 June 2007. The event was held at the Stadium of La Muette, near the Embassy.

 

2.  The event graced by H.E. Ambassador Dato? S. Thanarajasingam was attended by 150 people, comprising of the staff of the Embassy, officials from the Malaysian agencies in Paris, members of the Malaysian Association in France (MAF), fellow Malaysians and their families as well as Malaysian students studying in and around Paris.

 

3.  The ?Family Day? commenced with the singing of the National Anthem, ?Negara Ku? facing the Jalur Gemilang, which was flown in the Stadium. Two Malaysians patriotic songs namely ?Jalur Gemilang? and ?Wawasan 2020? was also proudly sang by all guests of the Family Day.

 

4. In his speech addressing to the Malaysians present, H.E. Dato? S. Thanarajasingam recalled the speeches made by His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin and YAB Prime Minister Dato? Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi in conjunction with His Majesty?s birthday celebration. His Excellency called on all Malaysians to continue to work as a team and to stay united especially being overseas. ?Harmony and unity among Malaysians will indeed uphold the good name of Malaysia not only in France but elsewhere?, he added. 5.   It was a fun-filled day for both adults and children where outdoor sports activities were the highlights of the day. There were games for children of all ages such as ?Balloon Bursting?, ?Bonbon Collector?, ?I wonder where my shoes are!? and  ?I need a seat in the Parliament?. The children also demonstrated their creativity in the colouring and drawing contests organized by the Malaysian Association in France (MAF).  The adults had a good time taking part in a series of challenging games such as  ?Water Balloon Throw?, ?Three legged Race with Egg in the Spoon?, ?Blind Man?s Race? and ?Balloon Race?.

 

6.   Malaysia?s picnic favourites such as Mee Hoon, Mee Goreng, curry puffs as well as Air Sirap Bandung generously prepared by the Ladies Association (Perwakilan) were distributed to the joy of everyone present. Members of the Malaysian Association in France (MAF) had also brought along desserts and fruits to supplement the dinner packet.  

 

7.  Apart from the objective of the event to commemorate the Yang di-Pertuan Agong?s birthday celebration, the event was held to strengthen family unity and promote togetherness among Malaysians in France.
