Paris, 13 December 2011 - H.E. Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Zainal, Ambassador of Malaysia to France, gave a keynote address entitled ‘The Future of Islamic Finance’ to French university students held at the Paris Dauphine University on Tuesday, 13 December 2011. The speech was given on the occasion of the graduation ceremony of the University Paris-Dauphine diploma programme entitled ‘Principles and Practices of Islamic Finance’.

highlighted the potentials of Islamic Financing in today’s economy notably in the banking industry. Islamic Financing, His Excellency says, can be useful as an alternative or a niche to sustain financial stability. His Excellency Ambassador also introduced to the French students and faculty on Malaysia’s success and history for being the most developed Islamic market and an international Islamic finance hub. He added that as one of the pioneers to propagate Islamic banking, Malaysia looks forward to expand its connectivity and collaboration with the rest of the world in several areas, including that of providing a training platform for potential Islamic financial industry players.
The diploma course in ‘Principles and Practices of Islamic Finance’, comprises of 400 hours of lessons on concepts and techniques of the Islamic Finance used in banking, financial and insurance professions or other organizations which require percepts of Islamic law. The course opened to post-graduate students, managers from public or private sectors as well as first year Masters students, was also designed to train professionals and students who will work with Islamic finance industry actors, or in non-Islamic institutions in search of collaborators aware of the approach of their clients from Islamic banks.
At the end of the ceremony, H.E. Ambassador presented the graduation scroll to the 25 Paris-Dauphine students who have successfully completed the course.
Paris-Dauphine University is a public research and higher education institution in Paris. Its complete name is University of Technology in sciences of organization and decision-making of Paris-Dauphine. In 2004, Dauphine was granted grand établissement by the French Ministry for Higher Education. With this status, admission is selective, not only for its Masters but also for its first year students.
