On the first day of Syawal 1439 Hijrah, corresponding to 15 June 2018, the Embassy of Malaysia in Paris hosted an Aidilfitri gathering at Rumah Malaysia. The event started with the Aidilfitri prayer and Khutbah Hari Raya. More than 150 Malaysians residing in Paris and students came with their family and friends. Also seen among the crowd at the gathering was legendary singer Dato’ Shake, who still has a loyal fan base in France.
Being far away from home, guests who came enjoyed each other’s company, renewing friendship ties, wearing assorted colours of the traditional Baju Melayu for the men and Baju Kurung for the ladies. To seal the memories of the joyous day, many were seen taking photos together at the Aidilfitri themed background and booth prepared by the Embassy. The children were also thrilled to receive ‘Duit Raya’ from Chargé d’affaires a.i. Encik Mohamad Razdan Jamil.
Guests were treated to a sumptuous Malaysian buffet of nasi minyak, ayam masak merah, rendang daging, masak lodeh, dalca sayur and satay, which was specially prepared for the event.
In conjunction with the holy month of Ramadhan, activities such as Iftar and Bazaar Ramadan were also organized by the Embassy of Malaysia and Perwakilan in Paris, respectively.
