Malaysians in Paris celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri at Rumah Malaysia
Malaysians in Paris observed Hari Raya Aidilfitri with an Open House hosted by Malaysian Ambassador to France HE Dato? S. Thanarajasingam at his Residence, Rumah Malaysia on Sunday, 14 October 2007.
2. More than 300 Malaysians particularly those living in and around Paris attended the lunch reception together with their families and local friends. The Ambassador, his wife Datin Dr. Saradha Iyer, Embassy officials and their spouses were kept busy entertaining the guests.
3. The Honorable Dato? Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, Minister of Education and his wife YM Datin Seri Tengku Marsilla Tengku Abdullah graced the occasion. The Honorable Minister is in Paris to attend the Unesco General Conference from 13 to 26 October 2007. French guests and members of the diplomatic corps, especially those from the ASEAN embassies, were also present.
4. The guests were feted to a sumptuous Hari Raya buffet of rendang, nasi minyak, lontong, lemang, nasi impit, kuah kacang, ayam masak merah, acar and Hari Raya cookies. The French guests who were at the reception had a great time sampling the variety of Malaysian traditional food being served. Many of them were those who have been working closely with the Embassy and the private sector.
5. Malaysians in France include students, members of the defence community undergoing training, including submarine trainees and Malaysians either working or married to French citizens.
