Tuan-Tuan dan Puan-Puan yang saya hormati sekalian.
Selamat Petang dan Selamat Datang
Terlebih dahulu, saya bagi pihak Saradha dan rakyat Malaysia di Perancis, ingin mengalu-alukan kedatangan Yang Amat Berhormat Dato? Sri dan Datin Sri serta delegasi ke Perancis. Kami juga ingin merakamkan setinggi-tinggi penghargaan kepada Dato? Sri dan Datin Sri kerana telah sudi untuk menjayakan jamuan makan malam bersama rakyat Malaysia di Perancis di Hotel Hilton Arc de Triomphe pada hari ini, di sebalik jadual yang ketat.
2. The first time Saradha and I had the honour of receiving both Dato? Sri and Datin Sri on an official visit overseas was in 1987 in New Delhi, India. At that time Dato? Sri was the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports and had come to India to ensure that a precision tool training plant was set-up for youth in Sepang, Selangor. Twenty years later, we have the same honour. But today, to quote,
YAB DPM ?is a historic and emotional day?. Malaysia?s first submarine was launched by Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, today at Cherbourg, which speaking at this historic event , Dato? Sri reminded the guests that less than 36 hours earlier he had received Malaysia?s first astronaut in Moscow, and with that we had become a space nation as well. So the last 48 hours have indeed been important miles to us as we celebrate 50 years of independence.
3. For the benefit of the young Malaysians, Dato? Sri Mohd. Najib is the eldest son of the illustrious second Prime Minister of Malaysia, the late Tun Abdul Razak bin Hussein. Following the sudden demise of his father in 1976, he stood for election in his father?s constituency of Pekan at the young age of 23. Following his election, he had served as the Deputy Minister of Energy, Telecommunication and Posts in 1976, as well as the Deputy Minister of Education and Finance. In 1982, Dato? Sri was appointed as the Menteri Besar of Pahang until 1986.
4. Since then, returning to the Federal level, Dato? Sri has continued to occupy more important positions in the Malaysian government and Cabinet, including being the Minister of Defence from 1990 to 1995. From 1995 to 1999, he was the Minister of Education and then he returned to MINDEF where he continues to be Defence Minister. In 2004, he assumed the important post of DPM as well.
5. Yang Amat Berbahagia Datin Sri Rosmah Mansor, wife of the Deputy Prime Minister is a lady of many accomplishments. In addition to taking care of the Deputy Prime Minister and family, she continues to devote her time and efforts in promoting the welfare and well-being of less privileged Malaysians. One of her current focus is working actively on her pet project ?Kumpulan Penasihat Permata Negara?, a non-profit organisation dealing with the development of early childhood education.
6. Untuk makluman Dato? Sri dan Datin Sri, rakyat Malaysia di Perancis secara amnya bertanggungjawab dan patuh kepada undang-undang. Mereka juga mempunyai jati diri dan semangat cintakan negara yang tinggi. Kedutaan Besar Malaysia di Perancis akan meneruskan hubungan mesra dan rapat yang sedia terjalin menerusi aktiviti-aktiviti perayaan seperti Sambutan Ulangtahun Seri Paduka Baginda Yang DiPertuan Agong serta Majlis Hari Raya Aidilfitri yang diadakan baru-baru ini.
